I say Old Chum...

My Vintage 1968 Claude Butler Competitor...

Here is a quick review of my recently restored 1968 Claude Butler Competitor...she arrived in a sorry state, in a large cardboard box and in pieces .

After 3 months of frantic Google searching for vintage parts, I have managed to rebuild her back to her former glory.

I have left the original paintwork and decals untouched, as I really quite like the scuffs and scrapes she has collected form over the years. You many notice the wheels are not original. Admittedly, I have not been able to source any original Yellow label Fiamme wheels as of yet, and with a new baby arrival, Im not sure if I can afford them anyway! So, I have made do with some lightweight alloy wheels for the time being.

The dream weaver...

What a dream she is to cycle. She holds the road well, and gives a remarkably comfortable ride. She easily averages 30KPH and TOP speed so far is 46.98KPH, which isn't bad for the old girl!!!
